There is no any mandatory option to register the work by the author. But on Registration of copyright it became easy against infringement of work to claim.
Register of copyrights

Section 44 of copyright act 1957, A register which in prescribed form to be called register of copyright shall be kept at Copyright office.
Entries in register of copyrights
Section 45 of the copyright act India, the author or publisher of or the owner of. Or other person interested in copyright, in
- Any work may make an application in prescribe form.
- The application form accompanies by prescribe fee to Registrar of copyright work.
Inquiry on application of copyright by Registrar of copyright

- On receipt of an application in respect of any work under sub Section 45(1) of copyright act India.
- The registrar of copyright may, after holding such inquiry as he may deemed fit.
- Which are enter, particular of work in register of copyrights.
Register of copyrights, to be prima facie evidence of particulars entered therein

- Section 46 of copyright act India, copyright office shall kept Indexes of register of copyrights, as may be prescribe.
- Section 47, Indexes under this act shall at all reasonable times be open to inspection.
- And any person shall entitled to take copies of, on payment by making extracts form such register or indexes.
Section 48 of the copyright act India, The register of copyrights and documents purporting to be copies of any entries.
Or extracts there form certified by registrar of copyrights and sealed of copyright office.
Shall be prima facie evidence of particulars entered therein and admissible in evidence in all courts. In all courts without further proof or production of original.
Correction of entries in Register of copyrights
The registrar may in the prescribe cases and subject to prescribe condition, amend or alter the Register of copyright. Section 49 of copyright act, The registrar may
- Correct any errors in any name, address or particular. Or
- Any other error, which may have arisen therein by accidental slip or omission.
Rectification of Register by High court

On application of the registrar of copyrights or any person aggrieved. The High court shall order the rectification of Register of copyrights by
- Making of any entry wrongly omitted to be made in register. Or
- The expunging of any entry wrongly made in. Or
- Remaining on the register ,or
- The correction of any error or defect in the register.
Meaning of expunging, is to remove or erase a record.
Publication of Entries in register of copyrights, etc,
Section 50A of the copyright act India, Entries in the register of copyrights etc, to be published.
- Every entry made in register of copyrights.
- Any particular work enter under section 45 of copyrights.
- The correction of every entry made in register under section 49.
- And every Rectification order under section 50.
- All shall be publish by registrar of copyrights in official Gazette. Or
- Other manner as he may deem fit.
Mode of assignment

Section 9 of copyright act 1957, India, Assignment of copyright in any work shall be in writing signed by assignor or by his duly authorized agent.
The assignment of copyright in any work shall identity such work. And shall specify rights assigned. And duration and territorial extent of such assignment. If not mentioned territory, then it presume that assignment is of whole India.
Assignment of copyright work shall specify amount of royalty and any other consideration payable.
Term of copyright in published Literary,Musical, dramatic and Artistic

Section 22 of copyright act, In this copyright shall subsist in any work as mentioned above heading. It shall published within the lifetime of author until 60 years from beginning of calendar, next year in which author dies.
Example, “A” is author of a book name ASD, published on 1 jan 2000, at this date copyright shall start. And till the lifespan of author. “A” author of the book dies on 5 jan 2023, then the lifetime copyright end here. And from next year calendar means 1 jan 2024 the 60 year copyright start.
Meaning of publication

Section 3 of copyright act India, publication means a work available to public. Available to public by issue of copies or by communicating work to public.
When work not deemed to be publish or performed in public

Section 4 of copyright India, A work shall not be deemed to be published or performed in public. If published or performed in public, without license of owner of copyright.
Author meaning in copyright
Section 2(d) of Copyright act India, Author, in relation to a dramatic or literary, to musical, composer, Artistic and other photograph.
The person taking photograph in relation to photograph. In relation to cinematograph film or sound recording, the producer.
In relation to any literary, dramatic, musical or Artistic work which is computer generate. The person who causes the work to be crates.
Online/offline Registration of Copyright work

- Visit Official website Copyright office India

- Registration of Copyright (form XIV).
- If you are new, then register fill all credentials. If already registered entry your User id and password.
- Not down user id and password for future reference.
- After logging, Click for outline copyright Registration link.

- Complete the form and save your entered details. Save your work before leaving the website.
- Scanned copy of your signature, documents uploading.
- Fill out statement of further particular.
- This forms applies to literary, dramatic, musical, Artistic and software work.
- “Separate application for each work”, as mentioned above.
- Signature of applicants, must in every application.
- After section save and proceed.
- Make payment: Fee mentioned in schedule 2 of copyright act.
- A Dairy number will be issue by registrar.
- Objection period of within 30 days.
- If any, then notice to both parties and, A hearing will be arranged to address these objections.
- If not objection, application will be scrutinize, and the registration will proceed.
- Print one hard copy of each of the ‘Acknowledgement Slip’ and the ‘Copyright Registration Form’.
- Checking the status of copyrights Registration application.
- Extracts will be provide to registrar.
- Registrar entry into register of copyrights.
- Get a copyright Registration certificate.
Offline copyright Registration
In offline the applicants or vakalatnama advocate or power of attorney, shall submit all copyrights through by Posts address given below.
Print one hard copy of each of the Acknowledgement Slip, documents, work and the Copyright Registration Form.
